President’s Address

Mr. Ghanshyam Ahuja

President, Singapore Sindhi Association

After 105 years, our community's spirit is stronger than ever — and our greatest chapter is still ahead.

Dear Members and Friends of the Singapore Sindhi community,

It is with immense pride and a full heart that I address you as we celebrate 105 years of the Singapore Sindhi Association. What began in 1921 as a modest gathering of Sindhi merchants seeking community and fellowship has grown into one of the most vibrant cultural associations in Singapore.

Our journey has not always been easy. The Sindhi people are, by our very nature, a diaspora — shaped by displacement, resilience and an unbreakable sense of who we are. From the banks of the Indus to the shores of this island nation, we have carried our language, our festivals, our faith and our warmth wherever we have settled.

Sindhu House has been our anchor. For over a century, it has been the place where babies were blessed, where the young were married, where elders were honoured in passing, and where every generation has gathered to celebrate being Sindhi together. That is not just history — that is who we are.

As your President, my commitment is to ensure that the next 105 years are as rich as the first. We are investing in our youth programmes, expanding our cultural initiatives and strengthening Sindhu House so it remains a home for every Sindhi in Singapore for generations to come.

This is not just a new website — it is a promise renewed. A promise that we will keep our community close, our memories alive and our bonds unbroken. Every page carries the faces, the names and the stories of who we are. We have refreshed it, because we believe our community deserves a home that reflects the pride we carry within us — modern in its look, but rooted in everything that makes us Sindhi.

Jhulelal Bera Paar — may his blessings guide us forward.

Mr. Ghanshyam Ahuja
President, Singapore Sindhi Association
